As Fee-Only financial planners, conflicts of interest regarding compensation are removed. We do not accept sales commissions; we work solely for our clients. Because we do not sell financial products such as investments and insurance, there are no third-party relationships or outside influences to color our thinking and financial recommendations. In addition, Clarus Financial Planning, Inc. is a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA); as such we gladly comply with a host of regulations designed to protect the consumer.

As members of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, we took a Fiduciary Oath to act in good faith and in the best interests of our clients. Many advisors are not held to a fiduciary standard and are only required to make sure a recommended investment is “suitable” rather than in your best interests.

We believe that asset allocation and expenses are key elements of long-term portfolio returns. As such, we work with you to determine a mix of investments that is appropriate for your objectives, tolerance for risk, stage of life, and need for income. For clients that are not working with an investment manager, we build a portfolio for you using low-cost, diversified investments such as index mutual funds and exchange traded funds. In addition, we take tax implications into consideration when selecting investments for you and determining where certain types of investments are located in your portfolio.

We encourage our clients to rebalance their portfolios annually. While clients maintain control of their accounts, we provide specific advice on how to invest and rebalance those accounts each year.

Financial planning fees are no longer tax-deductible.
